Haiku Collage project: Poem 22.03
(poem reading available above)
Safely perched upon the pane of Protogonus forms the universe into a kaleidescope revealing bonds stitched in love.
This short 31-syllable poem is formed by the imagery of my original collage art, “Window to Chaos”, and inspired not by the Haiku (like most of the poems I’m creating for a new series of collages), but by the tanka, another Japanese poetry form. Although it does not adhere to the traditional style of this form, it attempts to capture the solemn yet hopeful mood of this piece while using the 5/7/5/7/7 structure.
I was inspired to try the Tanka form of poetry after researching Haiku poetry and reading the 2020 article "For the Love of Haiku: 3 Contemporary Poets to Read" by Elaine Mead. She introduced me to poets and poetry forms I had not yet considered and I look forward to working at understanding them further.
May your Holiday be filled with quiet chaos tamed by the bonds of love.
Sincerely,
~ Jennifer
