Today’s artist note is short and sweet - a little promotion for an upcoming show I’m excited to install at The Arts Center of Corvallis - opening July 30, 2024.
Of the Mind
“Look into a room of blurred realities as Lommers explores the tenuous moments that connect our past, present, and future. Embracing fiber arts and vintage materials as a measured conduit for healing and reconciliation – this multi-disciplinary, interactive show provides a unique view of the mind, simultaneously trapped and free.”
For my Patreon subscribers, I’ve provided a little preview of a few elements of the show. If you don’t subscribe but want a peek, feel free to sign up for a trial membership.
My official show announcement will be sent to my Newsletter subscribers tomorrow (June 15, 2024).
A few facts about the show…
I have been meticulously working on this installation for a year.
This show includes a variety of media, most of which I’ve never used in my art practice before.
I have a “Call to Community” for creating hexagons or contributing materials for a large mixed media “quilt” which can be found in my last newsletter.
I have 6 weeks until install day.
I am scared, nervous, excited, amazed and worried. All. The. Time.
With deadlines looming and art yet to be completed, as you might guess, I will be taking a break from writing my notes until sometime after the show opens. I hope you will pardon my brief absence. I look forward to sharing all the details, ins and outs, successes?, and so much more with you after the show is over! It’s been an amazing educational opportunity so far, and I’m sure I still have much more to learn before I’m done!
As always - thank you for being here and supporting my studio practice. Opportunities like this are possible because of you and your belief in my art!
Happy Summer,
Jennifer
