Pausing as my loves come together - ahead of the Great Backyard Bird Count
Hello, fellow travelers of this fair planet - shared with feathered friends who have wandered the lands and skies far longer than I can imagine.
It is once again time to join together in the Great Backyard Bird Count.
(Anyone can participate - find out more at BirdCount.org!)
“Spend time in your favorite places watching birds–then tell us about them! In as little as 15 minutes notice the birds around you. Identify them, count them, and submit them to help scientists better understand and protect birds around the world.”
And so, this week, instead of my usual prose, I bring you a small selection of my bird art over the years to hopefully inspire curiosity and appreciation of those who flock amongst us.
For myself, I’ll be counting and sketching for four days starting on Friday, February 17, dreaming up a new selection of bird art to showcase this summer as I clutch a hot thermos of coffee while quietly watching and listening to my winter surroundings.
(Which means I’ll also be skipping another week here with you.)
