Art of the Day: From my Painting Portfolio

I recently shared this image on Instagram: “For a little abstract moment of holiday zen today.”

This painting, from 2013, was created from memories of Bird of Paradise flowers I had enjoyed seeing on recent trips to more tropical places. In my Instagram post, though, I enjoyed sharing how the colors reminded me of Holiday joys while the soothing movement and delicate lines provided relative calm.

I love how art can be more than one thing. It can be filled with bright summer sun and also warm Holiday cheer. It is my reminder that we are layered, complicated beings who possess subtleties alongside perceived certainty with flecks of gold drawing us closer to discover more light within.
