16 Birds

And enjoying little studio breaks to watch my backyard birds

Just a short note to hopefully bring you something a little joyful - one of my most loved images, “16 Birds”.

Lately, I’ve been spending my studio breaks at the window watching the return of some of my favorite birds to my backyard feeding station. From the beautiful bright orange of the "Black-headed Grosbeak” to the smaller and brightly colored yellow Goldfinch - the feeders are full of activity.

While the birds in this painting were imagined combinations of many of my favorite birds, I find their playful movement across the canvas often happily connects with those who view it.
